Description:
This posting is not for me, but for my very dear friend. He started his own Computer business about 4 years ago. It has been a constant struggle from day one. He had the drive and desire to do it after many people told him he would never be able to. With the help of a few people he was able to have a little bit of start up money, but really it was never enough.
For 4 years, I've honestly never seen anyone work as hard as him. He absolutely knows his stuff, and has developed a large clientele, but even those are not enough. Part of the problem is the fact that his store is not on a main road, so unless you really know about the store from the advertisements that have been put out, you won't really know he's there, so he very heavily relies on word of mouth.
He does make good money, but it's simply not enough to pay for the bills/rent at the store, and that's absolutely all that he does pay for. He never makes any purchases for himself, he'll barely even buy some new shoes if he needs them, simply because all that he has goes straight back into the business. He has missed his rent for the past 2 months, and luckily his landlord has been lenient, he's beginning to think that he is a failure because he is not making enough, which couldn't be further from the truth, but in any case its starting to get him down.
I'm not even sure how these investor sites work to be honest. Honestly I'd be happy with some tips on how he could get his name more out there to be able to make more money, because I know at the moment he would not be able to pay anyone back. I know that, I personally have given him quite a bit of money to keep him afloat, just because I believe in him and believe in what he is doing.
He isn't one of these shady computer stores, he tells people exactly what the problem is, doesn't hassle them, doesn't try to upsale them on something they don't need. He's one of the good guys. I suppose you could say I'm bias because I do know him, but I feel like you could ask some of his customers and they would feel the same way.
Again, being new to this I'm not sure what to ask exactly. If anyone has any tips they'd like to share I'm absolutely all ears. I'd just hate to see someone that's tried so hard, and survived 4 years during the really hard times, have to give it all up now.
